Stimulus Bill: The Sequel
Earlier this year, Congress passed an $800,000,000,000 stimulus package, supposedly designed to stimulate the economy. So far it has proved to be an utter failure. Apart from a few short term gains, our economy has only suffered from this massive Government spending. As of today, the U.S. National debt is $11,528,000,000,000!
If this dept was divided among the estimated 306,000 people in America, each citizens share of this debt would be $37,611. The National Dept has continued to increase an average of 3.88 Billion since September 28, 2007. Unemployment rates are approaching 10%. The stimulus bill has done nothing to help our economy, but instead has made it worse by adding to the debt that America has already built up. Now the Democrats are pressing for another massive spending bill to add to the last one! President Obama has said that another stimulus bill is not needed at the moment, but will not take any options off the table for addressing a potentially deepening economic crisis. A second economic stimulus package would only do more damage to our economy. We who love America must fight against the passing of such a bill, and any other bill that promotes massive Government spending. You can help fight against a second stimulus package by sending an e-mail to your State’s Senators, your local Representative, and the White House with your thoughts.
Dont you think its weird to be blaming the democrates for the huge National Debt. When George W. came into office there was a surplus, so what did he do, oh yeah thats right he gave everyone a tax rebate then he went to war, and the next year we were in debt…hmm crazy.
I agree completely Gabrielle. I must say that I tell ths to my friends all of the time when they try to let Republican’s slide after criticizing the Dem majority for their lack of fiscal responsibility.President Bush is not in the slightest a good example of a conservative President. The Republicans have made mistakes as well, and should be called out (I do so regularly). I hope that this wave of Congressional “Freshmen” will change these things, and if not this one, than the next one. Thank you for pointing this out for my readers.
